The Coast Guard chooses Consid

PRESS RELEASE 2023-16-02

The IT and communications company Consid wins the prestigious procurement of a framework agreement with the Coast Guard. The agreement mainly concerns system developers within both .Net and Java but also for testers of the Coast Guard’s system.

– There are very high-quality requirements to be awarded a framework agreement with the Coast Guard, and we are delighted and proud that we have received this trust, says Therese Ericson, regional manager of Consid’s office in Blekinge.

The Coast Guard is a civilian government agency and falls under the Ministry of Defence, located in Karlskrona. On behalf of the Riksdag and government, the authority works with rescue services and maritime surveillance and is part of society’s crisis preparedness in the marine environment. The coastguard must be prepared to, together with other social actors, prevent, resist, and act in response to any safety disturbance. If Sweden were to be subjected to an armed attack, our primary focus would be on tasks that are important for total defense.

There are twenty coastal stations strategically located along Sweden’s coast, as well as in Lake Mälaren and Vänern, and an air coast station located in Skavsta outside Nyköping.

The new framework agreement has a contract value of SEK 159 million and runs for four years with Consid as the exclusive supplier. The assignment includes further developing the authority’s various operational systems for, for example, planning, checks, and maritime surveillance. Additionally, Consid will be conducting tests and test management. It can be about unit, component, system, and exploratory testing.

The agreement also includes hourly calls to strengthen competence within various development projects.

– We look forward to cooperation with a local actor with such an important social role as the Coast Guard, says Therese Ericson.

Consid has since long had a good balance between customers in the public sector and prominent private players. Demand for Consid’s services has increased steadily in recent years and has continued to grow despite the recession and rising tension worldwide.

The figures for 2022 show that both turnover and profit have increased dramatically. Consid’s turnover during the whole year was close to SEK 2.5 billion, an increase of one billion SEK compared to the previous year.

– We are investing ourselves out of the economic downturn happening in Sweden and the world. In 2022, we hired around 500 new employees, expanding to Germany and Denmark, says Peter Hellgren, CEO of Consid.
