Time for The Swedish Corporate Esports Championship 2023
PRESS RELEASE 23 02 2023
It is time to select the company with the best e-sports players. The Swedish Corporate Esports Championship 2023, also known as Företags-SM i E-sport, will be held from April 17th to 20th. The prize pool is worth 70,000 SEK.
-Last year, about 30 teams participated, and this year, it looks like there could be more. We have several returning teams, and it will be a tough battle for the win,” says Joakim Andersson, project manager for SCEC 2023 at IT and communication company Consid.
Consid is the organizer of the championship, and all companies in Sweden are invited to participate. The only requirement is a team of three or five people from the same company who are ready to represent the company in SCEC 2023. New this year is that the championship has been expanded to two games. In addition to Rocket League, participants can also compete in Counter Strike: Global Offensive.
-It’s fantastic that the championship has grown even bigger. We’ve already received a lot of positive feedback about adding CS:GO as a game, and now we just want it to be April so we can crown Sweden’s best companies in both games, says Joakim Andersson.
Last year, the SCEC was held for the first time. It was a thrilling tournament with a close battle to the end. Three teams made it to the podium, with game development company Rovio, which is behind the successful game Angry Birds, finishing third. Consid came in second, while the top spot was taken by none other than Region Kalmar with their team “Kama Ocket.” The winning team consisting of Christoffer Olausson, Lukas Åteg, and Linus Hult will also participate in this year’s championship in their quest to defend their title.
-We’re looking forward to defending our title. We’ve played a bit since last year but haven’t participated in any other competitions, so it’s time to compete again. I think we have a good chance of winning again this year, says Lukas Åteg.
The championship will take place over four days from April 17th to 20th. All matches will be played digitally starting at 5:30 PM. On the final day, April 20th, the finals for both games will be played, and the matches will be livestreamed on Consid’s TWITCH CHANNEL. The host for the evening is Simon Zachrisson, and several experts in Rocket League and CS:GO will be on hand as commentators.
-What I’m most looking forward to is, of course, seeing equally close and well-played matches as in last year’s championship. Then I’m perhaps a little extra excited to see the level of the teams in CS:GO since it’s the first year it’s played, says Mikael Söderman, commentator and co-organizer of SCEC.
In addition to the honor and prestigious SCEC trophy, a prize pool worth a total of 70,000 SEK will be awarded during the final event.
It is free to sign up.
