Blomsterlandet

PIM / inRiver

Soligt växthus med växter och träd i
Blomsterlandet needed to gather all its product information in one place. We were asked to make a PIM solution to create better structure and communication opportunities between the company's employees, offices and stores.

The challenge

We made a PIM solution to create a better article structure, work methodology and associated communication. The project was initiated in April 2019 and launched in early December the same year.

The challenge was that Blomsterlandet lacked a PIM system (Product Information Management system); the product information was in different places, mainly in the business system. We therefore created a completely new data model in the upcoming PIM solution.

A major challenge was also the tight deadline as the launch of the new e-commerce would take place close by. In addition to the pressured time frame, the product categories are significantly different and require different types of information. There were also challenges when setting up a flexible computer model that suited different types of products, both plants and other products, within Blomsterlandet.

The solution

The solution is based on the inRiver Product Marketing Cloud (iPMC). We designed it by setting up different products and variations so that it would fit Blomsterlandet, and we started from a category structure that already existed. This structure were also improved by us.

The flow that was set up had the order: product owner, product specialist, copywriter, image management and finally the output channels. The goal was simply to make it all effective and easy to understand.

Blomsterlandet had worked in the same way for some time with its business system and its articles, and therefore we wanted to make the transition as smooth as possible. The goal of the end product was that it would enable a clear workflow through different roles and departments at the company.

In the second part of the project, integrations were created between Blomsterlandet’s business system. The products are supplemented with information to enable various outbound channels. InRiver now became the hub for all product data.

The result

The result was a product that Blomsterlandet is very happy with. With this project, they have a better structure and they have got a good overview of their product data. The results also show that they are now more efficient in their daily work now that roles have been clarified. The system support  handover within the organization regardless of physical location.

– PIM enables everyone to work in an efficient and structured way in different places in the country, but still keep track of the 30-40,000 items in the product range, Amir Company Ehsani, Project Manager and Business Consultant at Consid says.

A PIM council from each department had the opportunity to provide input. This has been very much appreciated and made the work more efficient. The PIM Council has been one of the essential factors for the successful project.

The collaboration has now been extended and is in the management phase where new ideas and efficiencies are developed daily. We can therefore state that the result of this project is very good as it has created the right conditions for the company to continue its digital development.
