Episerver / Website

Högskolan i Borås nya hemsida
University of Borås were in need of an upgrade of Episerver, from version 6 to version 11. In connection with this, we developed a new web concept, a more efficient and easier-to-work website for editors, a better search through Episerver Search and Navigation, and a more appealing and modern design.

The challenge

The task consisted of concept and design, system development (front-end and back-end), migration of existing content and conversion of previous “composer blocks” to new blocks to fit in the new concept, design and a new way of working. The project also included a number of integrations to various internal business systems.

The big challenge with this project was the migration of existing content. We wanted the old web and the old technology and content to match the new concept. Everything went in the right place on the new web, at the same time as we developed, created the concept and finally also did the migration. This sync here was the big challenge. The goal was to create minimal manual work for the editors when moving the existing content.

Initially in the project, we worked according to concept- and design driven requirements where the concept and requirements emerged during a number of different workshops together with the University. A fun and educational process with many “aha-experiences” for both parties. During the development phase, we worked closely with the University in an agile process where the overall requirements were detailed and estimated before each iteration. Because the concept and parts of the design were already in place when the development started, the agile development and requirements work became very smooth and efficient.

The solution

The solution is made in Episerver where an upgrade of Episerver, from version 6 to version 11 took place. We started by seeing the needs and could then see that Episerver was a good choice for many reasons. The editors are used to the platform and wanted to build on the knowledge they already had.

– It has been a pleasure working with such a committed and digitally mature customer as University of Borås, who not only understands the value of digital delivery but also effectively achieve goals in an agile process with us, says Erik Zetterström, Project Manager at Consid.

The result

The goal of creating minimal manual work for the editors when moving the existing content, is something we together with the University of Borås have reached. The website is now more efficient and easier to work with, but also more modern. It was launched on June 10 according to plan with a very good result. The hope is now to continue managing the site in the future.

– We are very satisfied! It was impressive to see the commitment and enthusiasm from the development team as they delivered by the deadline. Finally, we have a website that lives up to the requirements placed on us as an authority and the requirements that we place on our digital presence, Ida Danell, System Administrator and Web Specialist at the University of Borås says.
